DANCE COMPANY

 

The Company was founded in June 2011 and has been progressing in growth with aspiring professional dancers. It was created to provide the extended opportunity for adults who continue to aspire to dance to continue their passion and drive through cultured movement. Its mission is “To enhance one’s life through the art of expression and movement from inspiration of the soul.”-R. The Company offers an opportunity for male and female dancers to display their creative abilities in dance theatre. The Company is devised to improve the technique of beginner to advanced dancers in an intensive study of dance fields such as afro-modern, modern/contemporary, ballet, pointe and creative movement. Company members have experience in these genres and train throughout the year to perform in a major dance productions, festivals, artistic events, community events, schools and on television.


The Company’s first major dance production titled “FEVER” showcased at The 45th Street Theater and the second dance production “UBRAN NATIVE” showcased at Shelter Studios & Theaters in 2012. Since then, The Company has produced “ROOTS” which showcased at the 133rd Street Arts Center in 2013, MIND, BODY & SOUL  at the 133rd Street Arts Center in 2014, "BLACK" at Teatro LATEA in 2015, and their most recent repertories "The Way" at Alvin Ailey Citi Group Theater and "RED" at Dixon Place in 2016. The NYC Dance Arts Professional Dance Company has also performed in the Alvin Ailey Citi Group Theater, Hatch Spring Series, Choreographer's Coffehouse, Biomorphic Dance Festival, Amalgamate Artist Series,  WaxWorks, NYC10 Dance Initiative, PMT Spring Dance Series, NYC Dance Parade & Dance Fest and NYC Bhangra Festival while it's external entertainment team performed for NY Red Bulls at Red Bulls Arena, NY Liberty at Prudential Center,  Brooklyn Nets at Barclay Center, Lions at Columbia University, NY Mets at Citi Field and Harlem Globetrotters at Madison Square Garden. Most recently, the brand has made promotional partnership with NBC's television network New Hit TV Show World of Dance and network collaboration with MTV TRL!

Please Note: All aspiring dancers must audition to be apart of the Company. Each dancer is required to participate in a one-on-one interview with the Artistic Director prior to being accepted into the company. Dancers who are accepted will either be given a position as the Company Principal Dancer, Principal Apprentice, Soloist I or Soloist II.


Each dancer of the Company will be given a contract to review and sign in order to participate in scheduled rehearsals and performances. Dancers who wish to be in the Company must be ages 18 & up. (if you are under the age of 18, check out our scholarship program, here.) 

All proceeds made to the Company will be allocated to dancers when applicable and/or deferred towards additional performances.

AUDITIONS

Individuals who have an interest in joining the Company must submit his/her headshot, resume/dance bio and video reel to nycdancearts@gmail.com

  • Dancers must submit all audition materials to be considered

  • Previous modern/contemporary and/or afro-modern experience is necessary

  •  Dancers must participate a technique and physical assessment

  • ​​All dancers must participate in an one-on-one interview with the Director prior to being accepted into the Company

  • Dancers who are accepted into the Company will be given a contact and will be given a position as a the Company Principal Dancer, Principal Apprentice, Soloist I or Soloist II.
