Class Descriptions:
Hip Hop:
All hip hop classes will begin with a basic warm up involving elements of conditioning and isolations. Class progresses into learning high-energy choreography that infuses urban styles with an emphasis on rhythm and musicality. Free-styling in class encourages students to develop their individuality and bring their own personality to the class.
Urban Choreography:
Urban Choreography classes incorporates street styles of dance such as hip hop, street jazz in a choreography form. Each class provides the flexibility to try a new dance style and technique each week. Class begins with a basic warm up involving elements of conditioning and isolations, then progresses into learning choreography that infuses urban styles with an emphasis on rhythm and musicality. Free-styling in class encourages students to develop their individuality and bring their own personality to the class.
Heels:
This class teaches jazz technique in heels, fusing genres such as hip hop hop and street jazz while challenging the body to have more flexibility and balance. Women and men are encouraged to take this class to build self esteem to be sexy in a free environment.
Street Jazz:
Street Jazz fuses classical jazz technique with the coordination and power of hip hop movements. Classes will begin with a warm up then advancing to combinations that move across the floor and culminating in choreography.
Ballet/Barre:
Ballet Barre class involves basic barre exercises to improve turnout, articulation, and overall strength. Exercises such as plies, tendus, and ronde jambe will align and warm up the body to later execute more intricate movements and choreography across the floor.
Dancehall:
This class focuses on learning Afrocentric body movements to reggae and afro-house music. Class progresses into learning high-energy choreography that infuses rooted Caribbean styles with an emphasis on rhythm and musicality.
Hip Hop Fitness:
Hip Hop Fitness is a hip hop dance fitness class that includes low to high cardiovascular activity to help you burn calories! Combine that with targeted strength training and you’re going to burn fat. Our dance-inspired fitness workouts incorporates easy-to-follow choreography to get you to stay energized and to keep your muscles working. Hip Hop Fitness combines techniques and moves from interval training and dance routines for a workout that promotes the ultimate fat burning and fitness system.
Contemporary/Lyrical Hip Hop:
Contemporary/Lyrical Hip Hop infuses Hip Hop with the slower and more fluid movement of contemporary dance. Lyrical hip hop choreography uses Hip Hop movement as a medium for story-telling and self-expression.
Ballet Technique:
Technique classes involves basic barre exercises to improve turnout, articulation, and overall strength. Exercises such as plies, tendus, and ronde jambe will align and warm up the body to later execute more intricate movements and choreography.
Acro (Acrobatics):
This class focuses on learning and building upon various acrobatic tricks, which can be incorporated into choreography for any dance genre. Acro combines the fundamentals of tumbling as well as the flexibility and contortion aspect of rhythmic gymnastics. Students will acquire skills such as walkovers, aerials, chest stand and more.
Cheer Dance:
Cheer dance introduces students to the basics of cheerleading technique fused with classical jazz movements. Students can learn cheer-specific tumbling tricks such as splits, jumps, cartwheels and more.
Jazz:
Jazz builds on the foundations of ballet technique to form a style that stresses isolations, grounded movement, syncopations, contractions and at times a theatrical performance style. Classes strengthen balance and extension while also introducing students to uniquely jazz steps and choreography.
Mommy & Me:
This class focuses on a student fundamental development in dance through basic ballet steps and tumbling moves such as straddles, toe touch and somersault (forward rolls). Students learn to dance in a play time environment as the instructor and parents guides them in class.
Break Dance:
Breaking dancing is a street dance style characterized by athleticism and power. Students will learn the component technique of break dancing such as top rock, drops, footwork, power moves, and freezes. From there, students will develop their technique to perform more complicated variations and build their own solo-run.
